All the Best in 2026 from EnviTrace!
Wishing you a bright, data-driven holiday season filled with discovery and optimism for 2026.
From Santa Fe, New Mexico - we send our heartfelt thanks to you this holiday season. On behalf of the EnviTrace team - Trais Kliphuis, CEO, and Velimir ‘Monty’ Vesselinov, CTO, want to thank you for your trust, collaboration, and shared belief in thoughtful, responsible innovation.
We’re grateful to be building this work together and look forward to what the coming year will bring. Wishing you a joyful season and a bright start to the new year.
Year in Reflection: 2025 Highlights and Milestones
This year brought meaningful growth, exciting momentum, and moments we’re proud to share!
We were honored to receive a $100K New Mexico EDD SBIR matching grant and a $1.15M Department of Energy award supporting our LAPIS induced seismicity project - both important milestones for our work at the intersection of earth science, AI, and clean energy.

Our company was grateful to be recognized as an Emerging Local Hero by UNM Anderson + Creative Santa Fe for ‘Advancing Geothermal Energy and Clean Energy Innovation in New Mexico’, and to connect with our community through events like Books Behind the Business and El Sailon: When Earth Meets AI.

The Envitrace team grew this year with the addition of four incredible new colleagues, including three PhD Research Scientists and a Director of Operations, strengthening both our scientific depth and business foundation. We were also excited to participate in the St. John’s College student intern program, supporting the next generation of scientists and critical thinkers here in New Mexico.

Lastly, we had the opportunity to share ideas and learn alongside peers at events across the country, including AGU, the NM Tech Council Summit, the SCORE Women in Business Conference, and the NY Venture Summit; experiences that reinforced collaboration and the momentum currently building around responsible, clean energy innovation.
What's Next: Looking Ahead to 2026
AI for Earth Sciences Workshop
EnviTrace’s two-day event will bring together scientists, engineers, energy operators, and decision makers to explore how physics-informed AI can drive practical, field-ready solutions for energy, water, critical minerals, and environmental challenges.
The workshop also offers networking opportunities and a closing roundtable to shape the future of AI in Earth Sciences. Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit abstracts for oral presentations, lightning talks, or posters - showcasing novel methods, reproducible workflows, and impact-driven applications.
Be sure to follow us on LinkedIn for the most up-to-date announcements about our workshop!
This year, we’re continuing development of LAPIS, working in close partnership with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), to improve subsurface characterization and better understand induced seismicity. Using open tools and diverse geoscience data, we’re helping operators make faster, smarter, and more environmentally responsible decisions; demos and collaborative opportunities planned for 2026. Thank you again to the US DOE for the amazing funding opportunity to continue this important work.
Looking further ahead, we’re proud to share that Dr. Vesselinov is co-organizing a dedicated session on Inverse Problems in Hydrosystem Modeling at the 2026 Computational Methods in Water Resources (CMWR) Conference in Bologna, Italy.
This session will highlight emerging computational approaches that improve prediction and understanding of complex hydrosystems. Whether your work is theoretical, computational, or applied, we welcome your contributions. Learn more and submit your abstract: CMWR Session Topics
Celebrating Winter Traditions
In Bulgaria, the winter holidays center around Christmas and family time; gathering for special meals like koledna pitka - a bread studded with treats. The symbolic burning of the budnik (Yule log) is believed to bring warmth, happiness, and good luck for the year ahead.
In the Netherlands, winter traditions like Sinterklaas and New Year’s bring families together with gift‑giving, festive sweets like oliebollen and pepernoten, cozy gatherings, and lively celebrations that light up the dark winter months.
Here at our New Mexico headquarters, locals celebrate the season by baking biscochitos, the state cookie, and lighting farolitos - small paper lanterns lining walkways and rooftops - creating a magical glow and symbolizing warmth & guiding light.
From Santa Fe to Sofia and Amsterdam, we’re reminded of the joy, connection, and cultural richness that make this season special.
Happy Holidays — with extra pawsitivity from the EnviTrace pets!
