Noah Hobbs, PhD

Scientist

Biography

Dr. Hobbs is a research scientist specializing in structural geology and numerical modeling within the earth sciences. His expertise spans structural geologic fieldwork, mantle-crust stress modeling, landscape evolution, and the development of large-scale geologic conceptual models. During his postdoctoral research at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Dr. Hobbs expanded his skillset to include machine learning, building models to analyze and predict complex Earth system behaviors. His unique background enables him to bridge traditional earth science disciplines—such as fieldwork and data collection—with modern machine learning techniques. By accounting for the inherent heterogeneity of geologic systems, Dr. Hobbs builds and tailors ML models to suit the specific characteristics of each application, delivering scientifically grounded, data-driven insights.
